Breast Uplift Surgery FAQs

1) What is a Breast Uplift Surgery?

A Breast Uplift Surgery is a cosmetic procedure that lift fallen or pendulous breasts, giving them a more younger and healthy look.

With a medium risk operation, the surgeon will cut your breast and take a little skin to lift the breast. The breast uplift surgery is often followed by a breast augmentation, but not obligatory.

2) Whose women are more suitable for a Breast Uplift Surgery?

Women who have these conditions frequently look for a breast uplift surgery:

  • Women whose breast have lost its firmness.
  • Women who have lost weight abruptly and made their breast change its size and substance.
  • Women that after pregnancy want their breast for firm. Important: If you want to have kids you cannot have this procedure as you won't be able to breastfeed again.
  • Women who have nipples pointing upwards.

3) Where will the scar be?

It depends on the type of intervention and patient's personal choice but the scar left by a breast uplift surgery is generally situated around the nipple and then vertically going to underneath the breast. I can also have an horizontal scar that follows the breast natural curve.

Remember that it will take a year to see the final result of the scar. The first month will left a red-like scar that will fade over time leaving the scar its final appearance.

Pre-operation cautions

  • Ask for several tests before the operation. Blood test, cardio and allergy tests are really important. If the surgeon do not ask for them then it's not a serious professional.
  • Remember that these kind of breast surgeries are permanent. You can remove implants but the scar is already done so think it twice before going on a surgery.

4) Which type of anesthetic is given during the breast uplift surgery?

These type of operation requires a general anesthetic, that means you'll be asleep the whole procedure. You will also spend at least a night at the hospital.

Important: Make sure you are not allergic to the anesthetic or you can have several complications on the procedure, including death. Ask the surgeon for an allergy test.

5) Are there any risks?

As any surgery, risks are always a possibility. However, many women every year have a successful breast uplift surgery with no important o none issues at all.

It's really important to ask your surgeon about the risks involved by any surgery and then make the final decision.

6) What happens after the surgery?

After the breast uplift surgery you will stay a night at the hospital for a following and to rest from the procedure. You will find your breast swelled and bruised, this is completely normal for a few weeks.

After a week or so you'll return to the surgeon to see the progress on the after surgery. You have to tell him/her if you find or feel something abnormal on your body. A month later you'll have your bandages removed.

You can return to your normal habits in one or two weeks. It's suggest to avoid sports at least the first 3 weeks and the return but with a light gym routine or a soft pilates exercise program.
